⚠️ Important Warning About DIY Bee Removal

Bee Safety First

Attempting to remove or exterminate a bee colony without proper training can create serious safety hazards and expensive property damage. While spraying bees may seem like a quick solution, it often makes the problem much worse.

Honey bees actively regulate the temperature of their hive at approximately 90°F (32°C). When a colony is killed with insecticides, the bees can no longer cool and maintain the hive.

During hot weather, the beeswax comb begins to soften and melt. As the comb collapses, honey, wax, pollen, and brood can seep into walls, ceilings, floors, and insulation, causing stains, odors, and structural damage. The combined weight of these materials can even lead to sections of drywall or ceilings sagging or failing.

The problems don't stop there:

  • 🐜 Honey and wax attract ants, cockroaches, rodents, and other pests.

  • 🦠 Decaying bees and brood can create unpleasant odors.

  • 💰 Property repairs often cost far more than professional bee removal.

  • 🐝 The scent of leftover wax, honey, and pheromones can attract new swarms looking for a place to establish another colony.

In many cases, homeowners who exterminate a colony without removing the comb and hive material find themselves facing a second bee infestation months later due the permiated phermones that soak through the walls or ceiling. These phermones attact other bee to move in and build a new colony.

The Right Solution

Professional bee removal includes:
✔ Safe removal of the bees
✔ Removal of honeycomb, wax, and hive debris
✔ Cleaning and treatment of the affected area
✔ Exclusion and repairs to help prevent future infestations

Don't turn a manageable bee problem into a costly home repair project. Let trained bee removal specialists safely remove the colony and protect both your property and the bees whenever possible.

Previously treated or poisoned colonies may incur additional charges. Insecticides often cause honeycomb collapse, honey leakage, odors, and pest infestations that significantly increase labor and cleanup time. Additional fees help cover the extensive removal of contaminated comb, dead bees, honey, and debris to prevent future property damage and reinfestation

If the owner sprayed insecticide first:

  • Dead colony cleanup surcharge: +$250

  • Additional comb removal and sanitation: +$150

🌻 Agricultural Valuation (Ag Exemption) Through Beekeeping

Do you own 5–20 acres in Texas?

Beekeeping is one of the most affordable ways for small acreage owners to qualify for an agricultural valuation, potentially reducing property taxes significantly.

A qualifying 5-acre property in Harris County may save $3,000 to $15,000+ annually in property taxes, depending on the property's market value and local tax rates.

Our Ag Valuation Services Include:

✔ Consultation on eligibility requirements
✔ Colony placement and setup
✔ Ongoing hive maintenance and inspections
✔ Documentation assistance for agricultural use
✔ Pollination benefits for gardens, fruit trees, and crops
✔ Guidance on maintaining compliance with county intensity standards

Most Texas counties require approximately 6 active bee colonies on 5 acres, though requirements vary by county and appraisal district. Property owners should always verify current requirements with their local appraisal district.

Why Host Honey Bees?

🐝 Potential property tax savings
🌻 Improved pollination of flowers and gardens
🍎 Increased fruit and vegetable production
🌎 Support for local pollinator populations
🍯 Potential honey production from your property

If you own 5–20 acres and would like to explore beekeeping for agricultural valuation, pollination, or honey production, contact us to discuss whether your property may qualify. We can help establish and maintain the colonies while you enjoy the benefits. 🐝🏡🍯
